Comments on: IPC Made Easy: Introducing XPC and NSXPCConnection Thoughts on computer science and software from [self] Sun, 03 Jan 2016 23:05:04 +0000 hourly 1 By: Alain Duchesneau Mon, 03 Feb 2014 02:31:08 +0000 To make it work, I had to comment the following line in GreetingListener.m:

if ( [[newConnection serviceName] isEqualToString: kServiceName] )

Don’t know if it’s normal but [newConnection serviceName] returns null in that method:

By: Karl Sat, 01 Dec 2012 05:53:23 +0000 This doesn’t work for me either in OS X 10.8.2 and Xcode 4.5.2.

By: David Stites Wed, 29 Aug 2012 00:19:20 +0000 The serviceName shouldn’t be null. You should file a bug at and I will do the same.

By: Rares Fri, 24 Aug 2012 22:22:18 +0000 I’ve figured it out.
For some reason in my context (XCode 4.4.1, OS X, 10.8.1)
in the GreetingListener the connection serviceName is always null and therefore the listener was never accepting the connection.

Any idea why the serviceName is null ?

I am trying to run your hello app but it doesn’t work.
Clicking Say hello or Crash daemon doesn’t produce any results.

Am I missing anything ?
